Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a special supplemental nutrition program which provides services to pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children up to their 5th birthday based on nutritional risk and income eligibility.

These are the primary services WIC provides at no cost to participants:

  • Risk Assessments
  • Referrals to Health Care
  • Nutrition Education & Counseling
  • Health Assessments
  • Supplemental Food
  • Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding Support

WIC offers breastfeeding support in 3 ways:

1.  Breast Feeding Peer Counselor

  • Support person available 24/7 by phone for questions and help
  • Monthly classes

2.  Food Package Benefits

  • Enhanced food package for Fully Breastfeeding mom
  • Infant will receive Enhanced Infant food package at 6 months of age

3.  Breast Pumps

  • Breast pumps are available for loan with a $20 deposit
  • Breastfeeding moms who return to work or school may be eligible for a Forever pump
