Prothrombin Time/International Normalized Ratio
Your PCP (primary care provider) will have you get your PT/INR level monitored if you are on a blood thinning medication called Warfarin, Coumadin, or Jantoven.
The PT (Prothrombin Time) test monitors how long a blood specimen takes to form a clot.
The INR (International Normalized Ratio) is a calculation based on the PT. It tells your PCP if your blood clots quicker or slower than they desire based on your medication dosage and medical diagnosis.
You will need a physician's order for a PT/INR.
There is a $20 charge per visit. We can bill Medicare and private insurance.
