Kirksville, MO – The Adair County Health Department is giving away free school supplies to kids attending Adair County schools at a drive-through event, Friday, July 29, at their offices at 1001 South Jamison Street in Kirksville. Bags of supplies will be distributed as long as supplies last from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The July 29 event is open to kids attending any Adair County school. There are bags for students in kindergarten through grade five, and for students in grades six through 12.

The back-to-school bags will include a variety of supplies, although not every bag is the same. Among the supplies are pens and pencils, colored pencils, folders, glue sticks, sticky notes, notebooks, water bottles, hand sanitizer, and sanitizing wipes.

“We’re hoping these supplies will help families as kids return to schools throughout Adair County this fall,” said Jim LeBaron, administrator of the Adair County Health Department. “It’s also a great time for parents to check in regarding keeping their kids’ routine and COVID-19 vaccines up to date before the new school year begins. We can answer any questions they have about vaccines as they drive through the supply distribution line.”

Adair County residents who have questions about vaccine recommendations for COVID-19, influenza, HPV, tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap), meningitis, pneumonia, hepatitis A and B, polio, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), chickenpox, and dengue, can call the Health Department at 660-665-8491.
