Kirksville, MO 2/22/22 – The Adair County Health Department today confirmed 22 new cases of COVID-19 since last Friday, raising the overall case total to 5,997. The Health Department also confirmed the death of an unvaccinated 63-year-old female whose case was reported Jan. 21. Her death Feb. 19 is the 52nd confirmed COVID-related death among Adair County residents.
Today’s cases include two in the K-12 schools sector, two in the higher education sector and one in the skilled nursing facility sector. Nine are breakthrough infections.
Ages of today’s confirmed cases range from ages 1 to 80. Thirteen cases are females and nine are males. Breakdown by age group is as follows:
0-9 years: 1
10-19 years: 3
20-29 years: 3
30-39 years: 3
40-49 years: 4
50-59 years: 4
60-69 years: 2
70-79 years: 1
80 years and older: 1
The Adair County Health Department recommends that all county residents ages 5 and older get vaccinated against COVID-19 and all residents ages 16 and older get vaccinated and boosted. No vaccines are 100% effective at preventing disease. However, the COVID-19 vaccines are easily accessible, free, and continue to demonstrate that they prevent serious illness, hospitalization, and death.
