The day of the test, it is important not to use any of the listed products below on the breast or underarm areas as these products can interfere with the screening:
NO
deodorant
antiperspirants
perfume
powder
creams
lotion
gels
You will be asked to undress from the waist up. A gown will be provided as a cover up.
You may want to wear clothing that can be easily removed.
The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes.
During the test, each breast is pressed between two plates and an x-ray image is made.
The pressure caused by the plates can be uncomfortable.
Tell the technician if you are experiencing any discomfort.
You may want to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen an hour prior to the exam.
